Sweetheart Valentine 6-fold card and tutorial

It feels like it has been so long since I posted! There is never enough time for me and my paper crafting goals and ambitions....maybe one day....

These are the cards I made for my husband and two kids for Valentine's day this year. I used the paperpack from Close To My Heart called "sweetheart" and the paper rose are made from the new Art Philosophy cricut cartridge. The stamps are a combination of CTMH and Magnolia stamps.

Below the photos is a tutorial I made a few weeks ago on how to make one of these 6-fold cards.

Christmas Napkin Fold gift card holders

I have been working hard to get these Napkin Folding cards done for a couple of colleagues at work. I made 10 in total. At the end of the photos, I will also add my youtube video on how to make them. I got the idea from splitcoaststampers and made a video tutorial on how I made mine. They are very easy to make and are perfect if you want to tuck gift cards behind the stamped images or sentiments.

Nature's Gift meets Wonderland!

I made these cards for my customers who ordered Close To My Heart's products from me in November. I used the stamp set called "nature's gift", wonderland paper, and the "wonderful you" overlay from the Icing overlays embellishments which coordinate with it. This is one of my favourite paperbacks from the Autumn/Winter 2011 Idea Book. I have made several projects with it. I am hoping to finish a video tutorial on using the wonderland paper and coordinating product to make a mini album which folds into our new card boxes. Evensong Christmas easel cards

I made this easel card for a colleague at work who wanted to give her parents a card from her son and daughter. Of course the magnolia images are perfect for that! I used Close To My Heart's retired paper called "evensong" which I really liked and I am glad I pulled it out of my stash that I have had for a while. The sentiment is a stamp set called "Christmas Love" from Close To My Heart

Evensong Christmas easel cards

I hosted my first scrapbook weekend in Canmore last weekend and actually managed to get some work done! I made these special order cards for a colleague at work. She has two relatives who are born on Christmas day so she likes to order "happy birthday" Christmas cards as she can never find them in the stores. She also picked traditional Christmas colors so I pulled out my Close To My Heart Evensong paperpack to make all these cards and coordinating ribbon/embellishments. The paper flowers are from my local craft store and Wild Orchid Crafts.

The first two cards are made with Magnolia stamps from the 2011 Sweet Christmas collection. The houses and Holly arrangement are from Stamping Bella. The final card (which totally reminds me of Holly Hobby from the 70's) is a Sarah Kay stamp.

My mom is one of my biggest fans of my cards so each year I like to make hers extra special. I purchased this stamp which is from Loralie Designs and I loved it as it was totally different than all my other stamps. I love this paper from Bo-Bunney that I recently picked up. I purchased the feathers from my local craft store and this is the first time I have used them on a card. I love adding different textures to cards for interest.

I have had the privilege of working with a fabulous nurse for the past 10 years who is planning on retiring. I made her a card using Heidi Swapp papers that I have had in my

"stash" for years and a coordinating napkin fold card for us to put in a travel gift card. Luckily she will be picking up shifts as a casual nurse. The first image suits her so perfectly and I thought she would get a kick out of the Tilda nurse stamp in the napkin fold card.

CTMH Vancouver Regionals Artwork

Here is some of the artwork I made and presented at Close To My Heart's Regionals held in Vancouver last weekend. I made an assortment of cards which coincidentally all used images from the new cricut cartridge that you can only get through a Close To My Heart Consultant. I have used this cartridge so much and absolutely love, love, love it!

I will also be posting full instructions on how to make the napkin fold card using Believe papers, and the Easel Card Box with drawers using the Sonoma paper later this week if you want to check back.

After I took my pictures, I wrapped the wide-width sweet leaf ribbon and tied a bow around the striped band which you need to hold the card shut when folded.

I wish that I actually opened this card up fully and got a picture of that. I will do that when I post my tutorial on this card later this weekend.

I made this card using the new Close To My Heart Art Philosophy cricut cartridge that was just launched and I cannot get enough of it! I have used my cricut more in the last few weeks than I have in the last 3 years! It has so many images that are so versatile to use.

I used the Roxie paperpack as well as CTMH's new bling buttons. The paper flowers, made with this cartridge, were so fun and easy to make. Of course, I had to bling them up with sparkles in the middle.

Typeset layout using "Art Philosophy" crticut cartridge

It's official! Close To My Heart has teamed up with Provo Craft to design a cricut cartridge called "Art Philosophy" which can only be purchased through a CTMH consultant. I has 14 images that be cut out for each button which yields 700 images/letters in total. It is amazing. I am so in love with Close To My Heart's new paper! Starting August 1st with the release of the new Autumn/Winter Idea Book, CTMH launched our new patterned paper which is like cardstock (so it can be used as your base page), double-sided and it has a bonus pattern on the zip strip. Another change is that our solid colored cardstock is a heavier weight. The first layout I did is from the Dreamin' Workshop and the second layout is made with the remaining product and I still have some left over to make additional projects.

Sneak Peak at Autumn/Winter CTMH product

Today was a great day at Leadership as we got some great business tips and some sneak peaks at some of the new product.

The new paperpacks are called Believe, Dreamin', Elemental, Mischief, Roxie, Sonoma, Typeset and Wonderland.

We made eight 3x3 cards using some of the new paper and all of the B & T paper is thicker like our cardstock (similar to the You & Me kit).

We get the new idea book tomorrow and it will go online on the website on Friday.

Some of the new embellishments we used were Paper butterflies, corrugated kraft stars, and new Crystal buttons which are really sparkly.

Doctor's Day 2011 - Easel card boxes

Today we celebrated "Doctor's Day" on the psychiatry unit that I work on where we got to thank and acknowledge the awesome work the Psychiatrists and Medical doctors do on the unit. It is such a pleasure and privilege to work with each of them. This day originated because we celebrate all the other disciplines on the unit with nurses week, social work week, etc but there was never an opportunity to recognize the doctors so we made up a day and spoil them each year. This is the fifth year that we have done it.

I really wanted to make each one of them an easel card but this is hard for several people to sign so I decided to make in with the drawers and then we all signed punched out cardstock which I put in each of the drawers.

I used several stamps from various companies to match the theme we were going for each doctor.

Thanks goodness for before and after school teachers!

With my husband and I both working full-time outside of the home, we have had to rely heavily on before and after school programs for our two kids. This year my son will be transitioning into grade 7 and saying goodbye to the Heartland Agency before and after school program teachers where he has attended for the last 7 years. I decided I wanted to make a card for each of the teachers to thank them for the contribution they have made in my son's life over these years. The great thing about Tilda and Edwin is you can find the perfect image to suit the person receiving it. My daughter helped me pick them out. I made these cards this weekend and again I used the paper I have been using in many of my posts these days for two reasons. 1) I absolutely love the colors, and 2) it is handy on my scrapbook desk. I am sorry that I have not done alot of variety lately....even my layouts have been the same. With so much to do lately, it has required less thinking!

I cannot get enough of this paper. I bought it from Michael's and it is one of their paperstacks called "the blossom song stack". These are totally my colors. I promise my next post will use different paper!

I made this layout in Close To My Heart's Studio J online program. It is so easy to create layouts in this program. All you need to do it pick your layout, pick your paperpack and upload your photos. Then the fun part begins where you get to "embellish" your pages to your hearts content with stickease, ribbon, buttons. You can even make your pages looked distressed.

I belong to a yahoo group where we have the opportunity to join a "mingle" each month whereby we mail someone a card we made and get another in return from someone else. I made the card for my March mingle partner and I am so desperate for warmer, happier weather that my paper-crafting is helping me through this long winter.

I love some of the new images in the Magnolia "Butterfly Dreams" collection which you can find here. I made this card for a colleague at work who works nights so I have not had the chance to meet her. All I knew was that her hair underneath was darker than the top layers. I find it hard sometimes to make cards for someone you have never met because I put alot thought into the images and hair color that I thinks suits that person. Hopefully she like it!

It is going to be a "Spray Craze" with Close To My Heart!

Okay, one of my favorite new products that was launched this month is the new spray pen from Close To My Heart. We used it for the Wings workshop and it looks so awesome. It creates this amazing shimmer effect on the cards and layout. I have added the following video on how to use this amazing product. My biggest tip is that you want to shake the spray pen really well if you are mixing the re-inker and water with our pearl paint. You will be able to order these pens in sets of three starting February 1st.

Secret Tilda - Birthday Card

I made this card for a family member who has a birthday coming up. I wanted to change the layout a bit from my most recent cards just to do something different. I sometimes make the card bases and then have them ready for when I need to make cards. Then all I have to do is pick the image, color it and embellish the card as desired. I made this card base a while ago so I forget which paper this is but the tilda stamp I purchased from the Magnolia Store and she is called "Secret Tilda". I am happy with the Christmas cards I made this year but I needed a change from that theme. I belong to a yahoo group called "magnolialicious" and most months we have a "mingle" where you make a card and send it to another group member. The membership is far and wide with people all over the world.

I made this card for the January mingle 2011. I have not had the chance to use the Magnolia stamp called "little mermaid tilda" which you can purchase here so I decided it was time to ink her up and get out the copic markers. I used Tiffany papers from we are memory keepers, paper flowers from Wild Orchid crafts and All That Scraps as well as little bitty sparkles from Close To My Heart (which you can puchase from my online website here).

Christmas Cards 2010

For several weeks now, I have been making several Christmas cards for my friends and family. Here is a sample of some of the cards I have made. I used the jingle paper from Close To My Heart for most of them which you can purchase here, the flowers are mostly from Wild Orchid crafts and the Magnolia store, and I colored each of the Magnolia stamps with copic markers. I made easel cards but for the sake of not having too many pictures, I just posted the front of the card and the close up of the magnolia.

Little Elf Lexi......Hollydays

Alexia had an elf play at her preschool in December 2007. I made an elf costume for her to wear which she looked so cute in. This paper which is now retired from Close To My Heart called "Hollydays" worked out perfectly with her pictures.

The is the layout I made for my daughter's album. You have to love her costume which is 3 sizes too small and her coordinating winter boots (who are her parents!). She is pretty cute as a lamb. I used the Grace papers and stickease from Close To My Heart.

Here is my little preemie who was born 11weeks early! We are so lucky to have him in our lives. Rory wanted to make a hat for St. Patrick's Day at school. So what would any good scrapbooker do? I pulled out the cricut and this is what we came up with. I am not sure what the name is of the paperr by making memories but I saved it for these pictures.

I entered this card at the Magnolia-licious Challenge Blog and it was a color challenge where we had to make a card with pinks and yellows. I am in the middle of making my Christmas cards so I decided the make one of them in this theme. It is amazing how entering these challenges can really make me think outside of the box and come up with something that you I never would have thought of before. I really like how it turned out!

Christmas 2007 layout using the Jingle paperpack & stickease from CTMH. I did not do any stamping on this layout which is unusual for me but the stickease worked so well that no stamping was required. I thought the sentiment "there is magic all around" was so fitting for my sister (who is pregnant) and her husband rubbing their bellies!

Enchanted Halloween Layout - Frightfully Delightful!

Okay, so I made the left page 2 years ago and I finally made the second page at the last retreat I attended. Sadly, this reflects the fact that I am two years behind in my scrapbooking. I used the enchanted paperpack from CTMH, my halloween cuttlebug embossing folders, "creepy cobwebs" stamp set, halloween buttons and "bat" ribbon. It felt so good to finally get the second page done and add it to my son's scrapbook!

This is the most favorite card I have made so far. I have been saving this paper for a special card as it is no longer available and I absolutely love the patterned papers. These colors are totally me! I made this easel card for a friend who is planning on throwing a party for herself as she went through a painful divorce this past year and she wants to start a new chapter of her life. I really hope she likes it!

I enjoyed making these explosion boxes so much for the Doctors on the unit I work on. We try to pick one day each year where we recognize the Docs and we order in lunch and then I usually scrapbook something for them. This year I chose to do an explosion box for each of them. I had help coming up with the themes for each of them (which are like inside jokes to us) and then decorate each box according to that theme. They were a hit!
